Metro Ride #521

I got into the metro and the guy ahead of me looks at his reflection and dances. Maybe that’s what late nights do to you, they allow you to be more expressive. Anyway, I get myself a seat and the gate of the metro stays open so that more people can board it, it reminds of those even-odd days in Delhi when bus number 507 that I usually took would stop until they got a good number of passengers on board.

I sit on the seat with an empty mind and stare at my phone. After a few stations, a gentleman comes and sits on the empty seat on my right. He has his headphones on and is listening to Ae Kaash Ke Hum. I used to love that song once but then I listened to it so much that I started disliking it, does it ever happen to you?

So, the metro continues to find its way on those zig-zag tracks until it enters the dark underground tunnel only to move like a snake through its burrow. After two stations, I’ll have to get down and find my way home.

Doors will open, people will board and deboard the metro until this moving box gets to its destination.

Bhaag Daud (Race)

The doors open and you exit only to find others walking in the same direction. Some are running but most of them are rushing and wading their way through others.
Suddenly you see that there is an insane rush on the exit gate and you automatically speed up as if it will have a major impact on your life which we all know is a lie.

File_000.jpeg

A villager lady is at the exit gate trying to figure her way out of the gate but she is clueless with the token in her hand. A few of the dressed up people shout on her while a few are giving her advice. She is panicky and drops her token leading to further delays. This continues for some time and after a while, the station is deserted. A pigeon flys by while the other one is looking for food. They walk all over the floor until the next metro arrives and a hoard of people rush towards the exit gate.

Now as you read this, I want you to move along and be fast because the last thing I want is to be late at the exit gate.

Until next time, my friends. Until next time.

I am no Puneet

There is a guy named Puneet out there who looks like me. How do I know about that? Well, let me tell you a story.

I entered this metro and stood to one side knowing very well that it will get crowded soon. After five minutes I realize that this guy sitting on a seat is staring at me, I look at him and he hesitates and then looks away. Then I notice him looking at me again, he is looking at me in the manner of enquiry and I realize that. So I plan to ignore him and continue standing, looking around and observing people.

After a while, he points towards me and says- “Tumhara naam Puneet hai kya?” (Is your name Puneet?), I tell him no and he is like um..Okay. Believe me., he was a little disappointed but that is again life. It is full of disappointments but let’s not get into that. I turned out and laughed it was funny for me.

Well, Mr. Puneet I am not really sure if we look alike or not but that guy did confuse me with you.

Well, Mr. Puneet I am not really sure if we look alike or not but that guy did confuse me with you.
I wish you good luck and I wish that gentleman good luck and he may find you very soon.

*Raises glass* To Puneet and to me!

Bye! my friends, until next random entry here. And yep see this photograph too. šŸ™‚

From the Book Fair

The incident

Yesterday I boarded the metro and there wasn’t much rush which means that IĀ get space to read. I took my book out from the bag and started reading it, now what happens when I read a book is that my destination arrives faster and it seems that I have skipped many stations, but that is obviously not the case. Anyway, I am reading and there is a guy standing beside me for most of the journey.

Just before my stop, he gets a seat almost in front of me and sits down. After a few minutes, he is staring at the book and then he is staring at me. Not staring but you know he looked at the book and then at me. I was thinking what is wrong with this guy, does he like the book or he wants it? But then I saw his confused face and it occurred to me that I was reading ‘Murder on the Orient Express‘ by Agatha Christie. So you get it? Me reading a book about the murder on some other express while I am in theĀ metro,Ā that guy must be wondering what is happening.

I closed my book and went towards the door and de-boarded the metro to get to work.

You can buy the book here.

Metro Morning

I wanted to post here for a long time and for once if you have read some of my previous posts, you would want to shoot me right now. Why? Because I say the same darn thing all the time. I know that is old and I need a new statement to support my absence here *completely ignoring the fact that nobody really cares*

So, today I can talk about my day, because that usually gives me something to talk and write about and you for once get to know about a day in my life. No I am not telling you everything about my day but only a thing or two. I will choose the interesting part or will try and make it interesting. That works? I am talking to myself, yes!

I will talk about the metro rides to work. In the morning as I wait for the metro to arrive, I walk from one point to another and then I take a glance at my watch and I repeat the same thing. I observe people exiting other trains, getting down from stairs, some are in rush while some are literally pushing themselves to move. If you see things in a different manner, they start appearing either funny or you start seeing everyone as an individual( if you are watching people). Now you might be thinking, that’s nonsense. How can I see them as individuals, aren’t they individuals already? But you didn’t see them that way, I didn’t at least. They were just a bunch of people, a blob moving from point A to B or from A to C.

But as I was waiting for my metro to come, I saw each person and studied them. The expressions on their faces, their face reflecting lack of sleep, lack of will to go to work, some smiled and that too genuinely while some rushed because they were late and would probably be getting a lecture from their seniors. Oh well, there is so much variety.

Then my metro came and I got in after calculating what coach would have some free space so that I could take my book out which was The Book Theif and read it. I did get a place and I read my book. Good journey? Yes!
